The most advanced personal robot in the world, now more advanced!
After over eight years of development, GeckoSystems is very pleased to announce the availability of our new, servant class personal robot, the CareBot MSR 3.4.
Our new CareBot Mobile Service Robot (MSR) can watch over Grandma, and automatically follow her around, patrol, and/or run errands for 10 to 24 hours without recharging. This capability, along with web-based video conferencing enables our CareBot to perform numerous beneficial tasks like a family servant. These tasks can be eldercare, childcare, and home security monitoring. Our MSRs are capable of these tasks using our automatic, self-navigation software called GeckoNav. Our verbal interaction package, GeckoChat, is capable of monologues and interactive dialogues, as well as verbal control of the GeckoNav software for automatic errand running, etc. Our recently introduced GeckoTrak enables our now more advanced CareBot to automatically track Grandma, or other designated persons, automatically as they move about the home. When you combine these three advanced artificial intelligence (AI) packages with our uniquely designed hardware, capabilities and benefits emerge that are both unexpected and of great value to people in many walks of life.
So what does a CareBot do now?
It automatically follows Grandma from room to room, verbally reminds her of time sensitive events such as medication taking, getting ready for a doctor’s appointment, or that a favorite TV show will be on soon. All the caregiver needs to do to take advantage of all these benefits and more is to have PC access to set up the CareBot locally, or over the Internet. Once configured, the CareBot does its assigned chores automatically.
What is it made of?
Before we examine the emergent behaviors and benefits, let's explore the mechanical and electronic environment of the CareBot MSR 3.4. This is a man rated personal robot since it stands nearly four feet tall. The locomotion motors are capable of transporting a total of two hundred pounds continuously for over twelve hours before the battery needs recharging. Since the robot weighs over one hundred pounds, with the battery making up approximately fifty pounds of that weight, the CareBot is able to carry an additional load equal to what most men or women can move (roughly one hundred pounds). The internal GeckoFrame is lightweight aluminum for low weight, longer battery life and increased safety. The external GeckoShroud is high impact ABS plastic.
The electronic subsystems consist of:
4 Low power computers - one running at 40Mhz and three Mini-ITX Mainboards running at 500Mhz
3 Low power hard drives
2 Micro-controller units (MCU) running at 20Mhz
3 High efficiency DC to DC power supplies
1 High efficiency 2 amp 3.3V DC power supply
1 High efficiency ATX power supply
1 Dynamic noise canceling microphone array for reliable voice recognition in most low noise environments such as the home
1 Web enabled pan/tilt video camera
1 Low power 6.5" color LCD video screen for usage as a PC monitor or video conferencing display
1 WiFi router used to connect the onboard systems with each other and the external world
1 Seven band parametric equalizer/amplifier with 15 watts RMS per channel
for easy hearing in noisy environments
1 Pair of mid-range optimized high efficiency speakers for a clear voice
1 CompoundedSensorArray 2.4 for dynamic, real-time range finding of dynamic and/or static obstacles
1 GeckoBumpLocator 1.0 for the rare instances when the GeckoShroud touches something
1 Battery (not included) - Group 24 wheel chair battery that is readily available from reliable suppliers
such as MK Battery
What is special about GeckoTrak?
GeckoNav accomplishes the task of staying proximate to the carereceiver through coordination with our new GeckoTrak system. The resulting emergent behavior from this collaboration is that wherever the carereceiver is in the home, the CareBot will stay close like a pet dog or cat that follows you from room to room. (No, it does not climb stairs. Most wheeled vehicles have much difficulty with that.)
GeckoChat is a specially designed assistive technology enabling the owner, caregivers, and/or family members to teach a CareBot "what to say (or ask) and when," either verbally or through the desktop application. In programming GeckoChat, the user has the capability of creating a unique personality on the CareBot. The phrases to be recognized as well as the responses to those phrases are chosen by the person(s) setting up the system. This set-up is easier than creating a spreadsheet. Responses can be kind, teasing, timid, or anything in between for this very special, very personal robot. Even the tonality and cadence of the CareBot's voice can be configured in the software, and the seven band equalizer enables final tuning of the voice. You can tell her to "go away" and she will pivot and go away saying "you don't love me anymore." You can tell her to be quiet (no more bad jokes) and she will tell you that she will try to be quiet for the next fifteen minutes.
What does a CareBot do? Your bidding, of course.
What does it cost?
As you can see, this truly is the most advanced personal robot in the world.
"How much?" you ask. Before we get into the actual numbers, let's take a
look at what is included with your purchase of a GeckoSystems CareBot MSR 3.4.
We will provide hands on training on the "care and feeding" of your new home appliance,
including the usage of the pre-installed GeckoSystems software suite consisting of
GeckoNav, GeckoChat,
GeckoTrak, GeckoVisit, and
GeckoZap. In order to provide you this training,
we will pay for a round trip, non-stop flight (if possible) to Atlanta, GA, from anywhere in the
lower forty-eight states, transportation, meals, and up to three nights lodging at a quality hotel or
motel in close proximity to our lab. If additional parties would like to accompany you,
please inquire.
After your training is complete, you will receive a list of contact information for technical
support and the included one year parts and labor warranty, system intact. GeckoSystems
will promptly deliver your new CareBot anywhere in the continental U.S. In addition,
we guarantee, for one year from date of purchase, your CareBot will get all mechanical, hardware, and
software upgrades for free. We also offer an extended parts and labor warranty for up to
three years and the option to purchase subsequent upgrades after the initial guarantee expires.
Yes, a first-year "non obsolescence" guarantee is included!
A one-time fee of $195 is required to process your application. We believe it to
not only be very prudent, but mandatory that all our CareBot owners be fully "vetted"
as being responsible and trustworthy U.S. citizens.
Now that we have covered the application fee, on-site training, warranty, and delivery, the cost
of a CareBot MSR 3.4 excluding applicable sales taxes, is $19,950.00.
