CareBot MSR 2.2
Carebot 2.2

No, this is not "Rosie the Robot" of The Jetsons fame.   This is "Emily" our prototype CareBot® Mobile Service Robot 2.2.   She can converse with you and your friends using GeckoChat®.   You can tell her to run errands, and even patrol when you are gone.   She can run unattended, without recharging for up to twenty-four hours.

If you simply want to check out your home while away, a web browser anywhere can password you into her highmount onboard pan/tilt webcam.   You can see anywhere her high torque drive motors can take her.   All automatically, just like.... errr.... Emily!

Check out the discussion on GeckoChat® here.   This is an application software package that can serve as more than simple voice control, but also converse (on very limited topics), remember what you tell it, and remind you and loved ones of important events (that you can enter before hand), whether past, present, or future.

We call this kind of assistive appliance a verbal reminder or "surrogate short term" memory.   All this runs on a low cost PC and utilizes the Voice Tracker® from AcousticMagic®.   The graphical user interface for this system is much simpler to use than many common application software packages such as Word, Excel, etc.

To get a better idea about how versitile and useful a CareBot would be to have, please read our short story "Grandma Gets a CareBot®"

To see the response of an Alzheimer's patient and her family to the CareBot, you can watch video interviews with Beta Testers of our CareBot MSR 1.4 from January 2002.
