GeckoSystems Explains Need for NDA Safety Clause to Nissan
CONYERS, Ga., April 13, 2015 -- GeckoSystems Intl. Corp. (Pink Sheets: GOSY | http://www.geckosystems.com/) GeckoSystems' CEO, Martin Spencer, recently retained Founders Legal, an Intellectual Property (IP) and Corporate centric law firm to advance negotiations with Nissan due to their reluctance to effectuate a prudent and sufficient Non Disclosure Agreement (NDA). Further negotiations are precluded until that linchpin agreement is in place. For over seventeen years GeckoSystems has dedicated itself to development of "AI Mobile Robot Solutions for Safety, Security and Service."
"GeckoSystems is unique in the driverless car industry in that we have mature and stable Artificial Intelligence (AI) software and hardware solutions that are capable of real time sense and avoid of unforeseen, moving and/or unmapped obstacles. For example, our AI real time solution can steer clear of children in crosswalks (or darting out from between cars) in many situations when driver braking only would hit the children. In part, these very proprietary AI solutions are what we disclosed to senior Nissan Master Roboticists last December. I am very satisfied with the letter that Mr. Eliezer's and his associates' have prepared and sent on our behalf to Nissan," commented Spencer.
Below are some excerpts from that letter:
"As you are no doubt aware, our client's President and CEO, Mr. Spencer, paid a recent visit to Nissan Advanced Technology Center in Atsugishi, Japan on December 22, 2014, at the request of Nissan Motor Co., Ltd. ("Nissan), to discuss critical advances in Artificial Intelligence ("AI) Mobile Service Robot ("MSR) technologies with senior roboticists from Nissan's Mobility Services Laboratory, Research Division 2.
"Our client's visit and participation in the meeting was expressly conditioned on Nissan's execution of a non-disclosure agreement ("NDA). However, despite Nissan's promise to issue an NDA in advance of the visit, a signed NDA failed to materialize upon my client's arrival to the Japanese facility, much to Mr. Spencer's disappointment.
" Without the promised disclosure protections appropriate for the type of sensitive information the parties planned to discuss, Mr. Spencer was understandably trepidatious about the prospect of continuing the meeting. But, with representations from Nissan that an NDA would be forthcoming, our client ultimately agreed to keep the proposed schedule.
... "Recognizing the value of Gecko's disclosure, Nissan representatives took copious notes and memorialized the detailed formulas provided by my client -- even clapping in response to Mr. Spencer's creative use of certain mathematical formulas and/or paradigms, AI subsumption architectures, sensor fusion architectures and strategies.
... "Among other drastic scenarios, our client is mindful of the reality that the same suite of AI MSR technologies that enable self driving cars to seek, find, recognize, and respond to traffic lights, could enable hostile forces to deploy self delivering car bombs, and mobile weapons that would seek, recognize, and destroy human beings and/or infrastructure.
... "To Gecko's disappointment, negotiations with Nissan proved unsuccessful, and the parties were unable to enter into acceptable NDA, despite Nissan's earlier promises to the contrary.
"Now, my client faces not only the fear that Nissan will divulge Gecko's confidential information, developed over decades of effort and expense, but also the fear that Nissan's unfettered dissemination of this technology will find its way into the hands of those bent towards a desire to terrorize or harm the public.
"Gecko respectfully requests that Nissan reconsider its reluctance to negotiate an NDA, despite its past promises to the contrary on which our client relied. Gecko is prepared to take legal action should a resolution not be reached between the parties within a reasonable period of time.
"We await your prompt attention to this matter no later than May 1, 2015."
End excerpts.
GeckoSystems Safety Clause:
Both parties understand and agree with the general concerns that mobile robot solutions may be used to lethally harm persons, other living things, property, and a country's infrastructure if terrorists, criminals, or other private or public enemies of peace, security, and tranquility were to secure access to and/or use of them. Therefore both parties completely agree that MSR safety is of the greatest importance in the utilization of MSR technologies. All MSR technologies shared by both parties in any manner will be treated with the utmost secrecy and respect due to that reality and potential.
"We are very pleased to have the capable assistance of the competent IP law team at Founders Legal and hope for a prompt, positive response from Nissan regarding protecting our AI software solutions. Recently, by using social media outlets, we have been able to keep our 1300+ stockholders updated via LinkedIn, Twitter, and GeckoSystems.com. In addition to protecting our many years of hard work in developing our AI mobile robot solutions, we are also continuing our commitment to marketing and licensing in the U.S. and abroad in order to limit dilution of our stock and maximize shareholder value." concluded Spencer.

An overview of GeckoSystems' progress containing over 700 pictures and 120 videos can be found at http://www.geckosystems.com/timeline/.
These videos illustrate the development of the technology that makes GeckoSystems a world leader in Service Robotics development. Early CareBot prototypes were slower and frequently pivoted in order to avoid a static or dynamic obstacle; later prototypes avoided obstacles without pivoting. Current CareBots avoid obstacles with a graceful "bicycle smooth" motion. The latest videos also depict the CareBot's ability to automatically go faster or slower depending on the amount of clutter (number of obstacles) within its field of view. This is especially important when avoiding moving obstacles in "loose crowd" situations like a mall or an exhibit area.
In addition to the timeline videos, GeckoSystems has numerous YouTube videos. The most popular of which are the ones showing room-to-room automatic self-navigation of the CareBot through narrow doorways and a hallway of an old 1954 home. You will see the CareBot slow down when going through the doorways because of their narrow width and then speed up as it goes across the relatively open kitchen area. There are also videos of the SafePath wheelchair, which is a migration of the CareBot AI centric navigation system to a standard power wheelchair, and recently developed cost effective depth cameras were used in this recent configuration. SafePath navigation is now available to OEM licensees and these videos show the versatility of GeckoSystems' fully autonomous navigation solution.

The company has successfully completed an Alpha trial of its CareBot personal assistance robot for the elderly. It was tested in a home care setting and received enthusiastic support from both caregivers and care receivers. The company believes that the CareBot will increase the safety and well-being of its elderly charges while decreasing stress on the caregiver and the family.
Gecko Systems is preparing for Beta testing of the CareBot prior to full-scale production and marketing. CareBot has recently incorporated Microsoft Kinect depth cameras that will result in a significant cost reduction.

Above, the CareBot demonstrates static and dynamic obstacle avoidance as it backs in and out of a narrow and cluttered alley. There is no joystick control or programmed path; movements are smoother that those achieved using a joystick control. GeckoNav creates three low levels of obstacle avoidance: reactive, proactive, and contemplative. Subsumptive AI behavior within GeckoNav enables the CareBot to reach its target destination after engaging in obstacle avoidance.
